Parkes says of the judging process that, ‘the judges were excited by the high calibre of entries and the variety of approaches to working with glass, which included works that were hand-blown, kiln-formed, slumped or lamp-worked as well as pieces that incorporated neon lighting, industrially-produced float glass or recycled glass bottles.’ The judges will come together in person to view the exhibition in May, before it opens to the public, to select winners from the twelve established and six emerging finalists.
Established in 2016, the biennial FUSE Glass Prize is supported in 2022 by founding donors for the prize, Jim and Helen Carreker along with the Hon Diana Laidlaw AM, David McKee AM and Pam McKee, Pamela Wall OAM and Ian Wall AM, Susan Armitage, Sonia Laidlaw, Trina Ross and Maia Ambegaokar and Joshua Bishop.
